Wrongful Death Action Results in Half a Million Dollars – $500,000

What started as a normal evening ended in tragedy for a family. A wife and mother of two was taking her usual evening walk, when a vehicle attempted to pass a slower-moving vehicle on the right. As the driver was making the lane change, he drove on the crosswalk and struck the mother.

The mother died as a result of the accident.

Dunnion Law investigated the scene of the accident, noting the crosswalk was clearly marked and no obstructions would have prevented a clear view of the crosswalk. The driver was cited with violation of failing to yield right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within the marked crosswalk. Special burial services and the loss to children, husband and family members were considered in obtaining a $500,000 recovery for surviving family members.
